WHY SHOULD I/WE RECYCLE COMPUTERS AND ELECTRONICS?

For commercial entities, Colorado State Law requires computer and electronic equipment to be treated as hazardous waste once it is retired. Their final destination must be responsibly recorded and readily accounted for by organizations to reduce company liability and costly fines by regulatory agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In addition, electronics contain hazardous materials such as lead, cadmium, broken glass, and mercury which can seap into the land and water supplies if improperly disposed. Even though an old computer is no longer useful, it still contains valuable materials that can be recovered and reused; thus, precious resources are also conserved.

Finally, almost every electronic device these days contains personal information and sensitive data. Phone numbers, addresses, emails, bank account numbers, passwords, and social security numbers can all be found on old computers, handheld organizers, and even newer cell phones. Properly recycling the equipment with our company ensures that your information will be completely sanitized or destroyed.

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY EQUIPMENT ONCE IT HAS BEEN PICKED UP?7
From the moment it is picked up, your equipment will be tracked and transported safely back to our facility. Regardless of the functionality or condition of your unwanted equipment, we will always treat data security as the most important priority. Your data will be treated as a valuable and sensitve asset and we will guarantee 100% data destruction. No piece of equipment will ever leave our facility with any data on it. With that being said, most of the equipment we receive will eventually be refurbished or disassembled and put back into manufacturing via scrap vendors.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO RECYCLE? AND IF SO, WHY DO YOU CHARGE A FEE? Yes, we have an upfront rate shedule for the most commonly recycled equipment. Devices are charged by the unit and components, such as wiring and scrap, are charged by weight. There is always a fee associated with proper computer and electronic recycling. We are providing a service by shielding you from liabilities and costs associated with improper disposal of electronic waste AND we are guaranteeing 100% data destruction.

WHY DO OTHER INDIVIDUALS OR COMPANIES OFFER "FREE" RECYCLING?
There is always a cost associated with proper computer recycling and electronic waste disposal. Almost always, individuals or companies who offer "free" recycling are NOT legitimate handlers of electronic waste. They are not registered companies and do not abide by proper federal, state, and municipal statutes in handling your equipment. They will cut corners, resell your computer with all of its data untouched, and expose you to countless forms of unpredictable liability and harm.

WHY CAN'T I JUST DONATE MY OLD COMPUTER?
It is a very noble idea, however, most non-profit organizations do not have the human or technological resources to erase your personal data before they resell your computer. They offer no guarantees and may or may not handle your personal info with care.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO DATA SECURITY?
Data security is our most important priority. We consider the safeguard of your personal information and sensitive data as non-negotiable. Our company takes preventative steps at each stage of our recycling process to ensure that NO client data will EVER leave our facility. We guarantee 100% data destruction and implement a rigorous "Logistical Lifetime" redundancy check process to ensure that your equipment is trackable and accounted for at all times. Our managing partners have over 10 years of combined experience in information technology for the federal government (civilian and military) and have specialized knowledge of security standards and protocols that most electronic recyclers do not possess. WE WILL NEVER COMPROMISE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

WILL YOU BUY MY OLD EQUIPMENT? AND FOR HOW MUCH?
Yes
, if you think your old equipment is still valuable it may qualify for purchasing, as we do pay for certain items. We can also remarket your equipment; much like a consignment, all you have to do is pay a small commission fee and we will take care of the rest: from pickup to refurbishing to shipping to the seller.

Some of the equipment that we purchase include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Circuit boards (i.e. motherboards) in bulk
  • Cisco networking equipment
